What kind of work can I do?
A more arrogant version of me might say, WHAT CAN'T I DO?! But I am trying to win your good graces, and that is quite rude. BUT, what can't I do? I am no good at performance work, and I am far more at home sculpting and building rather than painting or other two dimensional mediums. In my sculpture and personal work, I love to work with salvaged and recycled materials, and to incorporate elements of advertising and contemporary visual culture in projects. I have years of experience working with textiles, and feel my best work is the result of a congruence of multiple contrasting mediums. I also have experience in Steel and Aluminum metalworking and TIG welding, and middling carpentry skills. I have a limited and very basic understanding of CAD/CNC, but an ingenuity and drive to tinker. Perhaps some older folks would call it the "Knack," but I would describe it more as an over-exposure to Legos and MAKE Magazine at a young age. Whimsy and play are intrinsic to my work, so really, the sky is the limit for projects! What should you expect? For price, commissioned shoes will usually be around 500 dollars. This accounts for the around 20 hours of labor it takes to make the shoes, at a wage of $26 per hour, as well as material costs. Depending on the request, the price may exceed 500 and each commission will be subject to a case by case discretion. It may take up to two months to complete and receive a commission at this time, as I am currently in my senior year of university. While your input on the design is more than welcome, the final product will depend on what parts I have available. When submitting your request, please state the kind of shoe you want (boot, sneaker, low top, high top, etc) with as many adjectives and descriptors as possible, including color and any inspiration from other shoes. If you're ordering fancy custom sneakers, you better love them, right? Finally, for housekeeping, a $200 hold must be placed on all commissions, and the rest payable upon delivery with an itemized receipt.
